What:
An online collection of
selected resources related to refugee youth and child well-being,
as well as descriptions of community-based programs. Includes
relevant and accessible resources from a variety of helping
professions and services, covering a range of topics and formats.
Resources are included in full text when practical; original
BRYCS resources are also featured.
>>
MORE
Why:
To facilitate information-sharing
and collaboration among service providers, in order to strengthen
services to refugee youth, children and families in the U.S.
The clearinghouse offers access to information on refugee
family realities, as well as the other service systems that
help them. Goals are to bridge an existing disconnect between
services, improve institutional memory on refugee family issues,
and break the cycle of “recreating the wheel.”
>>
MORE
Who:
Professionals who encounter
refugee youth and children in their work can find valuable
information and ideas, particularly from the following service
areas: refugee resettlement, refugee community associations,
child welfare, health/mental health, juvenile justice and
education. The clearinghouse is developed and maintained by
BRYCS staff from USCCB/MRS
in conjunction with technology
providers.
>>
MORE
How:
Search
the clearinghouse using quick and detailed search pages; records
contain information on how to obtain resources. BRYCS identifies
and collects information for review by staff trained in child
welfare and refugee resettlement through outreach to local
agencies and literature searches. Send program
descriptions and suggestions to the clearinghouse review
team. BRYCS’ technical
assistance interventions guide us to select, as well as
develop, resources relevant to current conditions, refugee
communities, and service trends.

MORE
When:
Launched in early 2003,
the BRYCS clearinghouse has expanded its collection of resources.
>>
MORE
