Washington, DC: Tahirih Justice Center
February 2016, 16 pages
We now know that
many survivors of forced marriage have experienced harm that is overlapping with other forms of violence
and yet unique enough to require additional skills
and awareness from service providers and others
in a position to assist. This paper looks at the connection between forced marriage, child abuse, sexual assault and rape, domestic/family violence, stalking, female genital mutilation/cutting, and human trafficking.
