This story is about a young girl who is new to the United States. At first Blanca does not speak any English and has a hard time in school and making new friends. After many misunderstandings, a classmate named Diane is able to talk to Blanca by drawing pictures and they become fast friends. Meanwhile, their teacher encourages the class to learn about Blanca’s home-country. The book includes a Teacher and Parent Guide with pre and post-reading questions and activities. Ages 5 and up.
